Rachel has a new addition to her mouth - a palate expander. And I have a key that I have to use on a daily basis to expand the expander for 14 days. We then go back to the dentist in 2 weeks, check out if it's where it needs to be, and then Rachel will have this lovely device in her mouth for about 4 months. I had a similar device when I was in kindergarten, so I wasn't surprised when Rachel's dentist suggested it. Rachel is trying to figure out how to talk and eat. You see, that metal piece isn't flushed against the roof of her mouth. There's plenty of room for gummy bear vitamins and chicken to get stuck. Fun stuff... Okay, not really. Hopefully in a few weeks Rachel will have mastered the art of using her tongue to free debris! :)

Sounds painful! What a brave girl!
Have her practice saying the word "peaches". She'll have talking with that expander down in no time!!!
I had one of those. It was more annoying than anything. She'll be fine.
