Today needs to recorded in our Smith Family History. It's the last day that I had to use public transportation to take and pick up Rachel from Joy School. It's definitely worked out just fine; other than a few frustrating days. But I am VERY excited to be able to have a 10-15 minute round trip next year for preschool. On a good day, meaning I catch the bus right on the spot, it takes about 30-35 minutes round trip to take or pick up Rachel. Most days, it's more like 45, because somewhere I'm waiting for a bus and I usually chat with my friends for a bit as well... So, even though the grass isn't always greener on the other side, I think it will be in this case! :)
Being the last day I made sure I rode as many modes of public transportation I could today. Okay, so that wasn't really my goal, but that's how it turned out. I took Rachel to school on the 170 bus. Then I rode the 51 tram to the hospital to drop something off. From the hospital I took the 199 bus to the shopping center. From the shopping center I walked home, dropped off items purchased, and then used the 170 bus to retrieve Rachel. Quite a day of public transport! :) There's no way we would have survived with one car over here without public transport. And to tell you the truth, I'm pretty proud of myself. I was able to get around town today without having to go online to the journey-planner. I've come a long way in 2 1/2 years...
